General Overview:

The procedure used by the Washington State Democratic Party for electing delegates to the 2016 Democratic National Convention is established by the Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan (DSAAP), which was passed by the Washington State Democratic Central Committee (WSDCC) on April 18, 2015 and approved by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on September 11, 2015.

The process of selecting national delegates in our 24th Legislative District has four steps:

  • County Precinct Caucuses – Done
  • County Conventions – On county party websites
  • 6th Congressional District Caucus – May 21st
  • State Convention – June 18th
  • National Convention – July 25-28

Each of our counties on the 24th LD is having a county convention on May 1st. Please check with the individual websites for location and time.  Our LD is NOT holding a caucus/convention.

  1. Our 24th LD county delegates will go to our 6th Congressional District convention to be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 (doors open at 10:00 AM, caucus begins at 11:00 AM) at the House of Awakened Culture (Suquamish Community House), 7235 NE Pkwy, Suquamish, WA 98392  MAP
  2. The state convention will be June 17 – 19, 2016 starting at 9:00 AM in Tacoma, WA.

The Washington State presidential primary election on May 24, 2016 will not be used to choose delegates to the Democratic National Convention.

The national convention will be held July 25 – 28, 2016 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where the presidential nominee will be chosen.  The 2016 Democratic convention will leverage technology to bring the convention experience well beyond the hall in an effort to engage more Americans than ever before in the event.  With the birthplace of American Democracy as a backdrop, the 2016 convention in Philadelphia will highlight our shared Democratic values and help put the Democratic nominee on a path to victory.
